My third grade buddy NL is posting about her New Orleans buddy:

When I found out that I was going to have a New Orleans buddy I was really excited. My buddy is a girl and she loves to dance. Our buddies are building a tree nursery, and there are Southern Bald cypresses in it. They are doing it because an animal called nutria is eating the trees in the wetlands while they are still growing. And humans are draining the water in the wetlands so they can build homes and factories. Our buddies celebrate Mardi Gras so they sent us a king’s cake. A king’s cake is a cake where one piece has a plastic baby in it, and whoever gets the piece with the plastic baby in it gets to do something special. I’m so happy to have a New Orleans buddy.
