Cinderella: a New Version

A new version of Cinderella? Well, here it is. I wrote it!

Cinderella

Hi, I’m Cinder-Discodog. Let me tell you a story that my owner, Discorella, told me. Now, her name wasn’t always that way. First it was Ella, than Cinderella, and now Discorella. I got named Cinder-discodog because I always sat by the fire and I am good at the disco. Now, read on!

Once upon a time, in the land of disco people, there lived a girl named Ella. She was one of the most beautiful girls in the whole land. One day, her mother and her father said they would teach her some new disco moves. All mothers and fathers taught their children how to disco, and Ella’s parents were one of the best at it! But the next day, Ella’s mother died. Her father had to remarry Josephine who had 2 kids. Their names were Kate and Jack.

But 2 weeks later, the father got sick and died. Ella asked Josephine to remarry and teach her to disco. She thought that Josephine would do that, but she was wrong. Josephine told her to clean the dishes.

“But it’s your job to clean the dishes,” complained Ella.

“You’re lucky I’m letting you live here,” said Josephine. “Now get to work!”

When Ella was done, she heard Kate’s voice.

“Ella, would you bathe me?” Kate asked sweetly.

“Can’t your mother do it?” replied Ella.

“Ella, do whatever my daughter says!” ordered Josephine.

“All right,” said Ella. As soon as she was finished, Jack called her.

“Ella, please clean my room for me,” said Jack.

“Do it yourself!” shouted Ella.

“Ella, how dare you!” screamed Josephine.

“Fine,” Ella said. When she was done, Josephine told her to buy a dog. That dog was I! (I knew all the stuff before because she told me.) When we came back, I went straight to the fireplace to sleep. Ella followed me and cried. Then Josephine came in and looked at us.

“Poor Ella,” Josephine said. “I better start calling you Cinderella. And the dog will be called Cinderdog.” I didn’t care what my name was, but Ella did. Oh, I should start calling her Cinderella. So Cinderella complained to Josephine that she can’t change her name like that. Josephine said that she was her mother and could do whatever she wanted to do to her. That night, Cinderella had to sleep on the floor because Kate was in her room, Jack was in her father’s room, and Josephine was in her mother’s room. I slept with her. In the morning, we got an invitation to a ball. Here’s what it said:

Attention all young ladies. You have been invited to the prince’s ball. He will marry the lady who is the most beautiful and who is the best at the disco. Please come if you want to get married.
But Cinderella had to make breakfast, clean the house and do lots of other chores so she couldn’t go. But Kate, Jack and Josephine could go, and they went. Once they left, Cinderella went to the fireplace and cried. She woke me up and I saw how sad she looked

I said, “Don’t cry, Cinderella. Oh, I mean Discorella.”

“Discorella?” Discorella asked. “My name is Cinderella, and the title’s Cinderella. Anyway, I haven’t been taught the disco so I stink.”

“Watch me,” I told her.

I did the disco perfectly, just how my father taught me, and how his father taught him.

“Oh my god,” gasped Discorella. “How do you do that?”

“You want to do that?” I asked her. “Here you go.” I gave her a magic hat that made her do the Disco really well.

“Wow!” Discorella cheered. “This is awesome!”

“I’ll do the chores for you, you can take the carriage outside to the ball!” I shouted to her, “if you need to do the disco, just say the magic word!”

“What’s the magic word?”

“You’ll know. Fly back by 3:00am!”

In the carriage, Discorella thought about what the ball would be like and about how she would fly back. She thought about the ball, how the other ladies would laugh at her for showing up late.

When she walked forward, she fell into a trap door. She had to stay in a dungeon for the rest of her life.

Discorella shivered at the thought. “That would be bad,” Discorella said to herself, “really bad.”

When Discorella got to the ball (This time for real), nobody laughed at her. She did the disco really well. Instead, they just stared with their mouths wide open. I mean really wide. No, really, really wide. I MEAN REALLY, REALLY, REALLY WIDE! Their mouths weren’t that wide, though… THEY WERE WIDER! Then the prince walked up to her.

“Madam, would you do the disco with me?”

“Sure,” she replied.

“What is the magic word?” she mumbled to herself. Aha!

Then she shouted at the top of her lungs, “DISCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”

“She wants to do the disco,” the prince said, “do it!” By then it was 12:00. They danced until 3:00. Then, Discorella flew out of the ballroom. She lost her disco hat though.

The next day, everyone came to the palace to try on the hat. It sounds like a silly idea, but the hat is a magic hat. It shrinks unless it is put on Discorella. When Discorella came up, it was a perfect fit! Discorella got married, and the stepfamily died in a fire in the house. And I am the royal dog! Here’s the newspaper:

Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! - Otho

In class, we read the book Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! The book is a Newbery winner, you know. My teacher helped pick it! In class, we had to pick a different part to read. Mine was Otho, the miller’s son. I really liked that part. The reason we did it is my teacher helped pick it, duh. Enjoy!

Sarah Margru Kinson

In class, we all read a blog about Sarah Margru Kinson that my teacher wrote. It was a good story, but it was sad. It’s about an African girl who gets captured by Americans and was a slave. There are two girls that come with her named Kagne and Teme. They go to Cuba, they get fake passports, and a bunch of other things happen to her as a slave girl. But, in the end, she comes back. It is a really good story, and I think you should read it if it gets published. You should really read it.

Saving the Wetlands

This is a paragraph that my third grade buddy wrote. It is about his Nola buddy and about the wetlands. It is told from his point of view.

My Nola Buddy

When I first got my Nola buddy, I got really excited. It feels good to have a friend that’s saving a world in a different place. To have a buddy far away, it’s great to have them because they have different feelings than us about the wetlands. People are draining the wetlands to build oil factories and nutrias are destroying the wetlands. Nutria is a beaver-like animal that eats trees. My New Orleans buddy’s class is building a nursery for trees. My class’s buddies are in third grade just like me! They also care about where they live, also like us. It is also weird because normally people talk to other people. But I write to my buddy, and never, ever see him in person. So it’s really cool to have someone that you can write to. Me and my buddy both like our hometowns. They celebrate Mardi gras, which means fat Tuesday, was on February 5 before Ash Wednesday. They have two campuses like us. That’s something I learned about my buddy.

The Tempest

I saw a middle school play called the Tempest by Shakespeare at the Dalton School. It was so cool! All the lights, all the ropes, I want to see it again! I think all the characters did a great job. You should see it.

The Journal of Wong Ming-Chung:A Chinese Miner

The Journal of Wong Ming-Chung is a book about a child who goes to America to help his uncle find gold. Laurence Yep uses a lot of Historical fiction in it, such as he said that the Americans blamed the Chinese for everything, from lower wages to rain. He also described a lot of stuff. Like when he described the British man by saying that he had pale skin, he had hair the color of dirt and eyes like the sky. If you want to find out what happens in the book, read the book.

My Immigration book

This post is about my book called From China to America. It is about an immigrant who lived in China with her husband. Her husband went to America, so she followed him. She had some trouble on the journey, and when she got there. Read the book to find out more.
