Saving the Wetlands

This is a paragraph that my third grade buddy wrote. It is about his Nola buddy and about the wetlands. It is told from his point of view.

My Nola Buddy

When I first got my Nola buddy, I got really excited. It feels good to have a friend that’s saving a world in a different place. To have a buddy far away, it’s great to have them because they have different feelings than us about the wetlands. People are draining the wetlands to build oil factories and nutrias are destroying the wetlands. Nutria is a beaver-like animal that eats trees. My New Orleans buddy’s class is building a nursery for trees. My class’s buddies are in third grade just like me! They also care about where they live, also like us. It is also weird because normally people talk to other people. But I write to my buddy, and never, ever see him in person. So it’s really cool to have someone that you can write to. Me and my buddy both like our hometowns. They celebrate Mardi gras, which means fat Tuesday, was on February 5 before Ash Wednesday. They have two campuses like us. That’s something I learned about my buddy.

  1. Nice. I learned something from reading this post.

  2. I enjoyed reading about your buddy’s buddy, but what about your buddy? What’s it like having a buddy at Little Dalton?
