Plimoth Plantation
Over the past few days, my grade and I went on a trip to Plymouth, Mass. to study about the Pilgrims. Now I’m going to tell you about it. On Thursday, April 18, 2008 at 8:05, the 4th grade of the Dalton School got on two coach buses for the 6 hour ride to Plymouth Massachusetts. Once we got there, we went to see the Mayflower II. It is an exact replica of the Mayflower I. We had a very fun time on it. I got to fake pull the rudder. After we got off the Mayflower II, we went to see the rock. We didn’t see the rock because they were doing construction. So we went to see where the Pilgrims actually settled. We also went to the Pilgrims graveyard. After that we went to the Ackomack, where we would be sleeping. After that we went to the craft building, where we saw a woman making a new mast for the Mayflower II. After that we went to see the Wampanoag Village. Twas so fun. (My favorite part of the trip.) We helped a dude make a canoe! I felt fox for. There’s a difference between fur and hide. Fur is like the hair and hide is the inside of the skin/fur. Then we had dinner. We had Turkey Pottage, broiled carrots and grapes. After that we had evening activities. The activities were: quill writing, dressing up like a pilgrim, Pilgrim games and discovery house. My favorite was games. Then we went to bed. The next day I woke up and packed up. We had breakfast, free time and gift shop time. At the gift shop I got a rabbit fur pouch and 7 arrowheads. I had a great time at Plymouth! You should go. Now, before I go, here’s a riddle: The man who makes it doesn’t need it, the man who buys it has no need for it, but the person who’s using it doesn’t know he’s using it. Hint: There’s a hint inside this post. If you think you know the answer, comment on this post, and include the “answer”. I’ll tell you if your correct or not.

What a great report about a great trip! Glad you got so much out of it. (By the way — we didn’t have turkey pottage. We had something I think you all were much happier with. Turkey pottage is sort of oatmeal-like and we sure didn’t have that!)
