Some Were Over the Rainbow

My class watched the movie Wizard of Oz. We had to first read the book.

The book is not really like the movie. In the movie, the characters do not wear glasses when they go to the Emerald City but in the book they do. In the book there is the Good Witch Glinda who rules the Quadlings, but in the movie she rules the Munchkins. Another difference is that in the movie Dorothy has red ruby slippers, but in the book she has silver slippers. Do you want to know why? The reason is because at that time in 1939 MGM just started color and they wanted to show off the color so they made the slippers red ruby slippers.

Now I will go on. I did like the movie. I always liked Wizard of Oz; I also had a birthday party on it when I was turning four. But the thing I did like about the movie is that they have the same characters like the Scarecrow or the Cowardly Lion. The movie did miss a big part of the book, about 75 pages, but it was still good.

Now I have told you about the movie and the book so you can go now because I have nothing else to tell you. Are you still there?

PLIMOTH PLANTATION AFTER WE WERE THERE

I thought that Plimoth Plantation was really fun because you got to meet Pilgrims.

I was surprised that the people that played the Pilgrims cooked their own food. They even had their own real guns. I was very surprised how little the Mayflower was. It looked like nobody would be able to move.

I expected that there would be small wooden houses, and they look as I expected. They had little chimneys and little roofs. The roofs were made out of thatch.

In the evening we were split up into different groups and did these fun activities. The first one we did was to go into two different Pilgrim houses and study what was in them. After, we got to write with quills and we wrote our names. It was hard. Then we got to dress up into Pilgrim costumes but only three of us got to dress up. It was not me. Two boys and one girl got to dress costumes. It was really funny.
Last but not least we went to a stage and got to play with Pilgrim toys. There were: horses on sticks (not real), a doll, this bowling like game etc.

We also hade a Colonial dinner. We had turkey pottage, carrots, pear pie, and apple cider. It was good.
We had a really fun trip.
