Letters From Rifka is an historical fiction book by Karen Hesse . It is about a Jewish girl named Rifka who travels with her family to America from Russia. In the book Letters From Rifka the author uses some facts from the 1900’s and later. For example, someone with a contagious disease like ringworm would not be able to go to America. The author also uses great literary devices. For example, she describes chocolate as a corner of heaven because in Russia they did have chocolate and so it was a new experience for Rifka. When you read the book you feel like you’re Tovah, the person Rifka is writing to. The book is an emotional touching book.
