In school my classmates and have read a very interesting book about a young girl named Sarah Margru Kinson aboard the Amistad (which in Spanish means friendship) slave trading ship. There are many reasons why we are reading this book. One reason is that we are learning about forced immigration in school. There are many amazing descriptions such as “Shiny green palm trees surrounded my village, so tall I was certain that they touched the sky.” it really makes you feel like you are standing right next to her sailing across the ocean or sitting in a jail cell waiting for your fate to be decided. Everybody should read either this book or find out about the Amistad.
