Amistad Poem
I have made many friends
aboard the vast confusing ship.
they are my friends.
They are my sisters.
I wonder though -
what about Africa?
What about the tall swaying trees?
What about my friends?
What about my family?
What about my home?
The thought lingers in my head as the hours pass.
It haunts me and sits before me
like a thick fog as the days trickle on.
As the rain falls,
as the sun shines,
all I can think about is home.
All I can think about is Africa.
