Here is the text that was written on the picture,
“Wednsday, the sixth of September, the wind east north east, a fine small gale, we loosed from Plymouth, having been kindly entertained and courteuosly used by diverse friends there dwelling”
That means that on Wednsday, the sixth of September, the pilgrims left England having been housed by people there.

The REAL Cinderella Story!

I wrote a Cinderella story so her it is!

The REAL Cinderella Story

Do you think you know the REAL Cinderella story? Ball, marrying prince, getting rich, mother dying and evil stepsister? Oh yeah, I forgot. The “fairy godmother”! Well if you think that is the REAL story you are TOTALLY on the wrong track. It turns out that the mother of Cinderella is her mentor. Not the “fairy godmother” and her name isn’t even Cinderella! Here is the real story. After you read this story I will guarantee you that when you have a Cinderella test (if you ever do) you will ace it!

A few years ago there lived a teenage girl named Ella. She had a happy life and loved where she lived very much. Ella lived on the upper-east side of Manhattan, New York and went to the East Side Academy. She had long, straight, brown hair and green eyes the color of the sea. She was very sweet, polite, and funny. She lived with her mom. (Not her dad though. He died when she was a baby, but that doesn’t really matter.)

Ella’s best friend’s name was Rebecca. She and Rebecca lived right next door to each other and were in the same homeroom at school. The only problem was that the school bully sat between them. That bully was very mean and nasty.

Her name was Imogene. Well, that is what everybody called her. Her real name was Sally, but everybody was too scared to call her by her real name because she hated it. On top of that everybody thought that she would be extra mean to them if they called her Sally. Actually, some people didn’t even call her Imogene! They just called her “the bully”. Fortunately, Ella was the only person that was brave enough to call “the bully” Sally. That was good because if somebody didn’t call Imogene Sally she would probably forget her REAL name because not even her mom and dad called her Sally! Sally was mean to everybody especially Ella. She called Ella Cinderella because she thought that Ella was very poor compared to her and other children.

There was a rumor going around (people who knew about it made sure Sally didn’t hear it) that Sally had a crush on this boy named Jake. Jake was very nice, and Ella knew that Jake didn’t know that Sally even existed.  When he did (which would probably be very soon because Sally was getting very angry about Jake not noticing her) he would have to run away because even Jake was afraid of some things. Ella, though, couldn’t do anything about it. Besides, she “didn’t have an interest in boys”.

As you might know (if you know the REAL Cinderella story, which you probably don’t) Jake was very rich so it didn’t surprise Ella when one day while she was reading the newspaper she saw that there was an article about Jake having a New Year’s Eve party.

Even though Ella didn’t tell anybody, not even Rebecca, she really actually thought that Jake was kind of nice. She liked him so much that she decided to go to his party because the article said anyone was invited. So when she told her mom about the party Ella’s mother said, “Maybe later we can go to the mall and get a dress.” As she promised, there they were, an hour later, standing in front of the huge three-story mall. On the first floor there were clothes, on the second floor there were cafes and on the top floor there was the rest of the stuff that had been left out on the other two floors.

On the first floor Ella and her mother saw a dress shop called, The Cinderella House: THE PLACE WHERE CINDERELLA SHOPS. There were all different kinds of dresses in that store and not all of them dresses that a Cinderella type would wear. Some of them were funky, stylish, old fashioned and even future themed, but the only dress that Ella really liked was a kind-of old-fashioned one.

The back of the bottom of the dress was very long so it trailed behind the person, but the front of the bottom part of the dress was in an arch so you could see the bottom of the legs of the person who was wearing it. It was all different shades of white and beige. It had a triangle shape neckline and bell-top sleeves with lace on the end of each one. To top it all off, there were diamonds around the bottom!

All Ella could say was, “WOW!” But when Ella finally came to her senses and said, “Mom, can we get that dress?”  Her mom said, “I’m sorry dear, it costs too much money”. Ella was about to start crying but she didn’t want to hurt her mom’s feelings. Instead she just asked her mom to wait to get another dress.

When Ella got home she made posters that said that she would do odd jobs to get enough money to buy the dress.

A few days later it was Ella’s birthday and when she saw a big bundle in the middle of all the other presents, she thought it was some winter clothes from her wacky aunt. When she opened the bundle there it was! Her dress! Ella was so happy she started crying. Then she thought of the one hundred dollars she saved up from all her jobs. She gave it all to her mom. It was her way of saying thank-you.

Then Ella’s mom asked, “Ella, do you mind if I take you to that party? I would like to see how rich people spend their money on houses.” (Ella’s mother was always against “rich” people spending their money on “unimportant things”.) Ella said yes and they both were happy. Ella because she could actually go to the party and not get laughed at about what she wore, and her mother because then she would have another chance (with witnesses this time) to argue with her “having so much and giving so little” motto. Nevertheless she “would not let that get in the way of her Ella having fun”.

On the night of the party Ella was very exited. Right before she left, her mother being very motherly said, “Don’t stay too late because tomorrow is a school day.” When she actually got to the party and saw Jake’s big house Ella turned around and said, “Mom, can you take me ho-…” but then Ella noticed that her mom was already gone. So heaving up her courage, Ella took a deep breath and went inside.

The minute Ella went into the ballroom in the house (Jake’s house was an old-fashioned house and the only house that could cause Ella’s mom to gape and forget her motto) she looked around and saw a lot of different people that she knew. Then she saw Jake. He was talking to… Sally? Yes! He was talking to a Sally who had a big smirk on her face when she saw Ella. Then Sally said, “What are you doing here, Cinderella?” After that when Jake saw what Sally was smirking at he dropped his glass of grape juice and went over to Ella.

Now there was a DJ and the DJ was letting the people pick the songs that they wanted to hear.  When Jake reached Ella he screamed over the hubbub of the party and the DJ playing music, “What is your favorite band?” Ella screamed back, “I really like the Beatles.” (Ella was really embarrassed that Jake even talked to her.)

Then a few minuets later she heard the Beatles playing “Eight Days A Week”.

The rest of the night was wonderful for Ella (especially the fireworks), but then she remembered her mother’s warning. “Don’t be too late,” Ella’s mother had said! When Ella looked at the huge wall-hanging clock, she saw that it was already one o-clock in the morning! She just had time to say goodbye before she had to hurry out the door. Right before Ella left Jake was going to ask her on a date, but he didn’t catch her in time after her hasty goodbye.

When Ella got home her mother scolded her for being late, but that was all, if you don’t count getting sent to bed straight away.

At the same time Jake was wondering how he could try to find the same person who was asleep right at that moment. It was very hard to do that because Sally was bugging him to dance with her. Jake still had to be at the party because he had to say goodbye to all the guests. Yes, it was the end, but there were still some late staying people.

Jake thought of a lot of ideas but each seemed as unlikely as the last. He had read Cinderella many times, but when he looked around Ella (though he didn’t know that was her name yet) hadn’t lost anything whereas Cinderella had lost her glass slipper. Then Jake, the finding-your-crush-genius, remembered! He could go around asking people what their favorite bands were, and if another person liked the Beatles he would just ask their name! Simple but deadly! The first person he thought to ask was Sally, but he knew that she wasn’t the person. Still he had to be fair and ask every single girl who was at the party.

The next morning both Jake and Ella woke up. They woke up at the same time but with different feelings and in different houses. Ella feeling sad, Jake feeling happy, and both of them feeling VERY tired. When they got to school they didn’t notice each other.

At the end of the day, for last period Jake and Ella both had Writing. It took a few seconds for Jake to realize that Ella was the right one after asking her the band question. Then he asked her the question he didn’t have the chance to ask anybody else. If she would go out on a date with him. She said yes and they lived happily ever after!

THE END

“NO!!!!

A few weeks ago a man named Gauthier Chapelle and other discovered more than thirty new species in Antarctica. This happened because a large block of ice, about the size of Jamaica, fell down and opened up a whole new world. Environmentalists believe that the cause of this is Global Warming. One of the animals that they found was a huge sea cucumber with a snout that looked like a pig’s!

January 29, 2007 was a sad day for America. On that fateful day the famous racehorse named Barbaro died by getting put to sleep. He had been in pain for weeks because he had hurt his leg right after finishing, and winning that Kentucky Derby! After the Derby was over he shattered his leg and got run off strait to the hospital.
☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹ ☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹

He got put under five-hour-surgery that went well. Although, the recovery wasn’t so easy. Barbaro was in pain the whole time, although the pain lessened when he got apples from fans! After being in pain for long enough the doctors decided that there was nothing that they could do.

A lot of people are thinking of the victims of hurricane Katrina. On person in particular!

Nathan Sawaya built a recapture of new Orleans out of Legos! He plans to unveil it on November 17, 2006. He hopes that it will give hope to the survivors and build up their spirits. Some people have huge hearts!
