Wizard of Oz: Comparing the book from the movie.

Our class is studying the Wizard of Oz and we read the book. We recently saw the movie. We had a certain amount of time so we really got to get a lot out of the book. We saw the movie and there are so many differences and I would like to share with you what they are.

First of all, in the movie, it ends up being a dream but in the book it is not and I do not like that in the movie they made it a dream because it is to much not like the movie. I do not think it is a good adaptation. I do believe that it is a good movie even thought I liked the book a lot more than the movie. I think that it is a good movie because it is very entertaining to watch. I like in the movie how in the beginning the setting is in black and white, but then when they get to the Wonderful Land of Oz it turns very colorful. At the end when it is a dream and she wakes up the setting is back to black and white.

I also think that it is not a good adaptation because the person that plays Dorothy is way too old. She is also very tall. Also, the movie does sound a little like the book but it leaves out so much that it is not as good as it would be if they added a little bit more of the book.  For example, in the movie the slippers are ruby red and in the book they are white.

If you did not read Wizard of Oz, I suggest that you read it and read the rest of the series. The next book is called The Marvelous Land of Oz. You might want to compare it with the movie if you want to see it. You should read the book before the movie. I hope you do.
