Plimoth Plantation

In about a week we are going to Plimoth Plantation in Cape Cod. You may be wondering why we are going to Plimouth out of all the other places but we are going because in school we are learning about the pilgrims. It is related to the pilgrims because Plimoth Plantation is where the pilgrims landed off of the Mayflower in 1620. I think that Plimoth will be interesting and fun because we (meaning my grade) will learn so much more than we already know. I am so excited to learn double what we know and we can have a fun time doing it.
From when I come back from Plimoth Plantion I will add on what I thought differently or the same.

Forced Immigration

Edinger House in The Dalton School on 89th St. studied about forced immigration. The reason they studied about forced immigration is because if you want an education then you have to learn about history, and forced immigration, or slavery, is an important part of American history.  Slavery is part of the Dalton schools 4th grade immigration curriculum. They didn’t study about forced immigration for a long amount of time, but it was just enough that Edinger House could be experts.
A kid in our class brought in objects from Mali, Africa including a cloth, clothes statue, beads, instruments, African money and necklaces. Edinger House also had an advantage because their teacher spent some time in Sierra Leone. Their teacher made a slideshow of pictures from Africa so they had a little better idea of what they were talking about.
The teacher of Edinger House also wrote a book that is not out yet and the class got to read it. That book is about a real life girl named Sarah Margru Kinson who was on the Amistad. When the class read it they took notes and that is what made them really an expert with it. There teacher also read a book of them called Amistad Rising. That book was really helpful to Edinger House.
A different kid in the class gave a quote to me which was “The entire study of forced immigration helped me learn a lot.” That quote could really be nice thing to there teacher. From all of this the class has had fun with this unit.
