“I am going home, because I am not going to stay in this harsh place” that is what she would think. Margru Kinson that is. Margru Sarah Kinson was a girl who was pawned by her father. He was not a bad person he was but he had to because the whole village was out of food! But then the worst happened, the slavers came. She was taken prisoner along with some other children from different villages when they got to the coast they were taken into a ship and under the deck. She was then taken to Cuba and then to the United States. But in America you could not have a slave, but the government said that they killed to many Cubans so they had to go to court where she did not have a good time. She was there for a couple years, then she finally went back to Africa but then she had to go back to America and then she finally went back to Africa and stayed there. I recommend you read the book Africa is My Home by Monica Edinger when it comes out because it is a great, touching, true story. If you do read it, then please put a comment on my blog, I would like to know what you thought.

I still can count -

eta, fele, sauwa, nani, dulu, weta, wefela, waiyagba, tatu,

I was put in a pawn for a debt by my father

but then I was sold into slavery.

My Buddy And His

This is what my 3rd grade buddy wrote and I then posted it here on my blog.

Hi, in house 43 (at the Dalton School) we have buddies from New Orleans. Luckily the hurricane did not hit my buddy. We are all trying to put together a project to help New Orleans. We are also pen pals with them. I love having a pen pal. I wish I could see my buddy in person. What we are talking about with our buddies in mail is about school, our life, and much more.

I taught my buddy about what we are learning in my class; for example, we are studying the Native Americans. And I am learning from my buddy, for example, Mardi Gras which is a holiday. We also sent them things that are famous, like we sent them bagels and they sent us a King Cake from Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is a holiday that they celebrate in New Orleans. I love sending mail to my buddy; it’s like talking to him by mail.

Half a Sixpence

“ Half a Sixpence ” was ok, it had some good songs, but I did not like it. The actors were good also but the story that it was about was not interesting. “ Half A Sixpence ” is about a man who works at a shop and also lives there because he does not have a home, so he lives in the cellar. But then he meats a man who wrote a play and he wants him to be in it and then he get a lot of money (12 hundred to be exact), the rest is about his life. It was also kind of weird, I didn’t think it was well done, but the actors did a great job!
