After we when to Plimouth PLantation

Plimouth Plantation was not really what I expected, it was better, it was great! They didn’t really have people take you around on tours. You would go around yourself and learn from people who are acting like they were in 1627.

For dinner we had turkey potage, cooked carrots, pear pie, apple cider, grapes, cheese, and bread with butter.

When we went on the Mayflower 2 there were people acting and you could ask them questions and you were aloud to walk around.

For activities we did dress up, where we dressed up as pilgrims. We played pilgrim games. We investigated houses. And we used quills.

In the Wampanoag home sight they were not role-playing. They were people whose ancestors were from the Wampanoag tribe and you were aloud to go in their houses.

At the 1627 village they were role-playing and you were also aloud to go in their houses.

What I Think
Plymouth Plantation

I think that at Plimouth Plantation we are going to do lots of stuff. In particular we are going to learn a lot (of course). I think the trip is going to be a lot like a trip my whole grade did in 3rd grade. We visited Camp Sloane, there it was a routine you would get up in the morning, have breakfast and then they would teach us about nature. I think it is going to be the same way but they are going to teach us about the Pilgrims. When I get back I will right another post so you can find out what I did.

Fairy Ways

Filed under: Uncategorized — c15ec at 8:39 am on Wednesday, March 21, 2007

Once upon a time in a world above ours and a world above that lived a little fairy servant named Ben. He lived with his two stepbrothers James and James, and his stepmother. He lived in Fairy Town, Fairy World, in the second biggest mansion in town. The biggest mansion belonged to the Princess. She also owned Fairy Way, the most popular contest holding arena in town.

ONE DAY

“Why can’t Ben be good at magic? ” said James.
“Don’t ask me. He’s the worst fairy in the town, and he can’t even wish himself to the right place,” answered the other James.
“Good morning world,” said Ben when he awoke.
“Good morning, BenLoser,” the other James laughed.
“Be quiet, ” shouted Ben. Ben had always been called BenLoser because they thought that his magic was so bad.
The next day, when Ben was told to go to the kitchen and get his stepmother’s breakfast, a weird thing happened. He saw a boy in the kitchen. But not just any boy - he was a human boy so he could not do magic. “ Who are you? Are you my human kid?” Ben asked.
“Yep, I am. I’m your human kid. I’m David,” David said. Just then the doorbell rang. “Well, got to go.” Then he quickly ran out through the back door.
“Ben, get that!” his stepmother shouted. He opened the door and…
“Please give this to the head of the family,” said a little messenger. He held the letter. So Ben did. He ran as fast as he could up the stairs (which was fast), and his stepmother read it aloud…

Dear all men of the family,
You are invited to the Princess’s fairy contest.
Where: Fairy Way
When: Tomorrow at 9:00PM
From,
The Princess

P.S. I am looking for a husband.

“We have to get ready!!!” shouted James.
“NO NO NO, slow down,” yelled their mother. “It is tomorrow, ok? Ben wash their clothes for the contest”
“But what about mine? ” he questioned.
“Well your not going. You have to do the chores. ”

THE NEXT DAY
6:00pm

“ We have to get ready!” shouted James.
“And quick! ” the other shouted.
“James, ” their mother called,
“Yes mother? ”
“Yes mother?” both of the Jameses said at the same time.
“No I meant Ben, ” she said
“Yes, stepmother,” he answered.
“I want you to go get their clothes (James and James) and get them ready.”

9:00pm

Everyone had left.
“Why can’t they ever let me go to a contest? I’ve always wanted to,” he sighed to himself.
Ding-dong. The doorbell rang. Ben ran to get it. “David is that you?” he asked.
“Yea it’s me. Ok, now lets go, ” David answered.
“Go where?”
“Well, to the contest of course,” David replied.
“I can’t go. I have to do the chores.”
“Who cares? We’ll do that later so I guess we will leave early at 12:00, ok?”
“Fine, but how are we going to get there? ” Ben questioned.
“We’ll take a fairy mobile down Mac-O-Fairy Street. ”

11:00pm

“ Now, it’s time for our last contestant…” There was something wrong with the microphone so no one could hear that it was Ben, and no one thought it would be him because he was so bad at magic. But David just started wishing. “I have to warn you. I can’t wish for good things because it is against a contract that I signed on Earth. I wish for a pony, ” said David. Since Ben was so bad at magic, he accidentally made a machine, but it was huge and super cool, and all the judges gave him a score of 10. Then David wished for a piece of chocolate, but Ben made a huge fairy cycle by accident! And Ben kept on making amazing things by accident.
Then the clock struck 12:00pm and Ben and David ran out, got onto their fairy mobile, and then left. The princess didn’t even get Ben’s name!

THE NEXT DAY

The princess could not find Ben! All day she was wishing herself from machine to machine trying to find Ben. The only thing was that she did not know his name!
Until she came to Ben’s house…
Ding-dong. The doorbell rang. “It’s you! ” shouted the princess.
“Princess!” yelled Ben,
“What?!” screamed Ben’s stepmother while running down the stairs.
And from then on Ben lived with the princess and they lived happily ever after!!!

THE END

Where is my home?

“I am going home, because I am not going to stay in this harsh place” that is what she would think. Margru Kinson that is. Margru Sarah Kinson was a girl who was pawned by her father. He was not a bad person he was but he had to because the whole village was out of food! But then the worst happened, the slavers came. She was taken prisoner along with some other children from different villages when they got to the coast they were taken into a ship and under the deck. She was then taken to Cuba and then to the United States. But in America you could not have a slave, but the government said that they killed to many Cubans so they had to go to court where she did not have a good time. She was there for a couple years, then she finally went back to Africa but then she had to go back to America and then she finally went back to Africa and stayed there. I recommend you read the book Africa is My Home by Monica Edinger when it comes out because it is a great, touching, true story. If you do read it, then please put a comment on my blog, I would like to know what you thought.

My Buddy And His

Filed under: Uncategorized — c15ec at 10:33 am on Wednesday, February 14, 2007

This is what my 3rd grade buddy wrote and I then posted it here on my blog.

Hi, in house 43 (at the Dalton School) we have buddies from New Orleans. Luckily the hurricane did not hit my buddy. We are all trying to put together a project to help New Orleans. We are also pen pals with them. I love having a pen pal. I wish I could see my buddy in person. What we are talking about with our buddies in mail is about school, our life, and much more.

I taught my buddy about what we are learning in my class; for example, we are studying the Native Americans. And I am learning from my buddy, for example, Mardi Gras which is a holiday. We also sent them things that are famous, like we sent them bagels and they sent us a King Cake from Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is a holiday that they celebrate in New Orleans. I love sending mail to my buddy; it’s like talking to him by mail.

Half a Sixpence

Filed under: Uncategorized — c15ec at 10:04 am on Friday, February 2, 2007

“ Half a Sixpence ” was ok, it had some good songs, but I did not like it. The actors were good also but the story that it was about was not interesting. “ Half A Sixpence ” is about a man who works at a shop and also lives there because he does not have a home, so he lives in the cellar. But then he meats a man who wrote a play and he wants him to be in it and then he get a lot of money (12 hundred to be exact), the rest is about his life. It was also kind of weird, I didn’t think it was well done, but the actors did a great job!
