[...] This year was my best year at Dalton. I really had the most fun this year because of the kinds of projects we did. The kinds of projects we did were the things I liked to do. I like to read, and we read the Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland. One of my favorite things we did was going to Plymouth. (See post about Plymouth by clicking on Plymouth.)I also really liked learning about the Pilgrims. (Don’t bother looking on my blog for a post about learning about the Pilgrims because there is none.) Here is what we did. First we created a made-up Pilgrim from sources (ex. Mourt’s Relation, Of Plymouth Plantation). Then we started a first draft of what our story would be like. Then we edited it and did a second draft. Then a third then a final that included our sources and had copyediting. Then we started a cover for our book. The cover was made to look like a book that would have existed in 1620.
I enjoyed your illustration and the quotation/caption. Combined, they connect you with the moment very effectively.

Immigration, especially forced, is a compelling story. You explained the story well and I am so glad you experienced it from so many points of view.

I read this book and liked it a lot. I especially appreciated that it was a mystery but not too creepy. I am not sure I entirely believed the villain character though. That might have been a small weakness in the book.

It was so nice to see you writing to people in New Orleans. They have been through so much hardship. I hope they can recover from the tragedy. Keep encouraging them!
