Africa Is My Home

Africa Is My Home: is the story of Sarah Margru Kinson was written by my teacher Monica Edinger. The story goes through Sarah’s story when she was captured to be in slavery. While she is going to America on the Amistad she has some friends and Amistad means friendship. Their names are Cinque, Kagne, and Teme. Together they get through all of the obstacles in their path.

In this story there is a lot of history and good writing. For example the former president of their time John Quincy Adams is mentioned and helps defend the kids in court. Like I said there is good description, the story tells you how she really felt, sad, happy, terrified, or any thing else. Plus, Ms. Edinger put in amazing pictures of people who looked like Margru’s mother and father, a place like her hometown, and pictures of her. It is amazing all together.

When this book is published, you should really read it. You will enjoy it because I did.

This was written by my 3rd grade buddy.

In the summer my teacher went to New Orleans. She went to a school called the Lusher School. Now we write letters to them. Our goal is to help them in any way because of the flood. We sent them bagels and then the sent us a king cake. Then we sent them pictures of us and they sent us pictures of them. I care about this relationship because people died in the flood and that makes me feel bad.

Half a Sixpence is a great play about a boy named Arthur Kipps. It is funny and sad and a little weird. The story is about Arthur whom is poor and has to work for a lady that always dresses in black. When Arthur is working some crazy guy tells him he is going to be RICH!!!
There are many other characters like Arthur’s friends that worked in the store with him. There is also the girl he marries her name is Ann. Before he marries Ann he gets engaged to his woodwork teacher. But he does not marry her he marries Ann.

Behind The Mountain

Behind The Mountains is a really amazing historical fiction book by Edwidge Danticat. It is all about a girl named Celiane (Cece) who lives in Beau Jour, Haiti. Her father lives in N.Y.C. She lives with her mother (Manman) and brother (Moy). Like I said it’s amazing and it has facts too! Like on page 50 her aunt Tante Rose said, “The battle of independence was when Haitians came together to fight the French colonists and form our nation.” During that part in the book the elections for president take place and bombs are everywear.Later in the book she heads to New York with her mom and brother to be with her father. This book also involves some great description. For example, on page 4 Cece said, “I love to watch the ashes at night its like finding stars on the ground.” I hope you will read this book and enjoy it like meJ
