Behind The Mountains is a really amazing historical fiction book by Edwidge Danticat. It is all about a girl named Celiane (Cece) who lives in Beau Jour, Haiti. Her father lives in N.Y.C. She lives with her mother (Manman) and brother (Moy). Like I said it’s amazing and it has facts too! Like on page 50 her aunt Tante Rose said, “The battle of independence was when Haitians came together to fight the French colonists and form our nation.” During that part in the book the elections for president take place and bombs are everywear.Later in the book she heads to New York with her mom and brother to be with her father. This book also involves some great description. For example, on page 4 Cece said, “I love to watch the ashes at night its like finding stars on the ground.” I hope you will read this book and enjoy it like meJ

My Dad’s Journey is about my dad Sriram who emigrated from Bombay, India to the United States. If you read this book you will see the journey my dad took. If you do read it you will be amazed at all that he did to be here in America.
