The Journal of Wong Ming-Chung: A Chinese Miner by Lawrence Yep is a good historical fiction book. One reason is because the author uses great language. For example on page 50 ‘There will be no rest for their souls.’ He also did a lot of research; for example on page 58 the people who lived in San Francisco lived in anything they could. Do think a Chinese miner and her uncle could make it in the gold mountain? Read this book and find out!

This book is about a girl leaving her mom and her family and going from Cuba with her stepfamily and dad to America a year before the missile crisis. This girl is going away from everything she knows and starting a new life and learning a new language and trying to make new friends. I hope you like my book.
