Africa is My Home The Story of Sarah Margru Kinson is about a girl who was on the Amistad. Slave traders took her away from her home and the African way of life. There is also a lot of great language so as ‘I dreamed of my mother. Of her soft gentle hands when plaited my hair. Of her soothing words when I was vexed. Of her comforting arms when I was afraid. I dreamed of my mother. I dreamed of home.’
There’s also a lot of history like they killed the white men to take over the ship.

The book taught me a lot and I really enjoyed it.

I remember how hard it was to leave my home
and become a slave.

I remember how dark
and cold it was on the cruel seas.

I remember all the brown faces around me,
all of my people
around me being taken to a new land.

With new people,
who were the strangest people
as white as paper.

With weapons
that we had never seen before,
that made a horrible noise that I could never forget.

I remember, I remember.

My Third Grade Buddy And His Buddies

This post is from my third grade buddy about New Orleans.

I have an amazing relationship with my New Orleans buddies. They sent us beignets (fried dough) and a king cake which they eat on Mardi Gras and we sent them bagels. I’m sure they loved the bagels and we loved the king cake and I’m sure we will like the beignets. It’s just we haven’t eaten them yet.

We went to the Met and saw the exhibit on New Orleans called “After The Flood.” At our school we made a presentation on our New Orleans buddies. Both buddies, L and W, are amazing writers!!

Our goal is to raise money and awareness to help rebuild New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

I thought that the play was good. It was funny and happy, but I also thought it was a bit confusing but the acting was good. I thought the play was kind of strange but that made it good. It was also crazy but if it wasn’t I wouldn’t have liked it. The play was very jumpy and it never slowed down.

My complete overall opinion is it was great.
